Hi, Hey, Hello!
And welcome to this special edition of the HYBR1D ART J0URNAL, the WSoA Edition. A lot has happened since I wrote this proposal back in June 2025 (and I’ve already semi-sorta jumped the gun… as per usual), but I wanted to open with segments of it here… just to give you an idea (and me a reminder) of what I had proposed. This digital edition, will soon be joined by a virtual edition too.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the residency will evolve, thank you for the warm welcome already!! As someone who hasn’t been to uni, I sorta feel like I’m sneaking in, but in the coolest way possible 🙂

:: ORIGINAL PROPOSAL (aka they’ll be changes!!)::
Critical thinking skills is arguably the most important skill future adults will need. Those skills are sharpened and strengthened through acts of creativity and as such it must be nurtured via the school curriculum. For the BCN Residency I’d like to create a ArtPULP + The Wolverhampton edition of the HYBRID ART JOURNAL… this’d be a blend of some of my previous projects, I’m open to tweaks + suggested amendments… that’s where the mentoring will come in super handy!
Theme = what does culture mean to Sandwell and The Black Country? I’d dive into archives and involve the local community, a special focus would be on the WSoA seeing as the building is at risk of being demolished. There’ll be a virtual edition (New Art City), and the physical edition would be a filing cabinet with metal printed sides.
At the top = a wildflower arrangement framed with colourful wildflower bombs.
One draw = physical books on art, poetry, creativity.
Another draw = dedicated to audiobooks (I have 300+).
The third draw = contain Expression of Ideas (…the arty version of EOI) Notebooks and art supplies, along with prompts, provocations and themes to get creative juices flowing. There’ll also be vouchers available in the event that the draw has runout of supplies before being refilled. These will be redeemable for a EOI Notebook & mini art kit from selected local stores.
This project is art as activism. Hopefully, eventually they’d be more ArtPULPS (fingers crossed for one in Camden this year). This residency would involve upcycling, metal printing, art kit creating, public art intervention action, interviews, mini films, journal printing and rustling up local support for Art and ArtPULPs.
